We’ve covered several free barcode encoder and decoder in previous posts, today we’ll review another free and open source barcode generator and reader which is developed by Piyush Patell, this free utility focuses on creating and extracting EAN-13 barcode and QRCode. A EAN-13( International Article Number ) barcode usually consists of 13 digits, a QR Code is a two-dimensional barcode which can be recognized quickly by cell phones and QR barcode readers.
This free utility contains two programs, they work on Windows 7 and Windows XP, etc.
1, Barcode Encoder
Barcode Encoder is a slim, efficient and portable program capable of generating 24 kinds of barcode including EAN-13, UPC-A, UPC-E, UPC 2 Digit Ext, UPC 5 Digit Ext, JAN-13, EAN-8, ITF-14, Interleaved 2 of 5, Standard 2 of 5, Codabar, PostNet, Bookland/ISBN, Code 11, Code 39, Code 39 Extended, Code 93, Code 128, Code 128-A, Code 128-B, Code 128-C, LOGMARS, MSI, Telepen.
Barcode Encoder is completely customizable, it lets you specify the width, height, rotation, alignment( center, left, right ), label location, foreground color as well as background colour of the image output, you can save the result as bmp/gif/jpg/png/tif/xml files.

2, Barcode Recognition Tool
Barcode Recognition Tool supports encoding and decoding EAN-13 barcode and QRCode, it allows to create barcode from text string and extract barcode from image files and pdf files.
Barcode Recognition Tool allows to specify the correction level( L, M, Q, H ), size, version and encoding type( Byte, Numeric, AlphaNumeric ) of the output picture for QRCodes.
